Sus Vasquez is a professional female guitarist based in NYC. Whether performing live or in the studio, she’s most known for her ability to adapt to different styles of music and settings.
Born and raised in Medellin, Colombia Sus picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and since then never looked back. After several of years of learning and gigging in her local city she decided to move to NYC to pursue her dreams. Known for her ability to perform in different settings and styles of music she started to play for many different artist and proyects in and out of the city.
Sus is currently the guitarist for the top selling artist and Latin Grammy winner Karol G. She has the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist and has been nominated by Billboard Latin Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, Latin American Music Awards and Premios Juventud & Premios Heat. Her latest album “KG0516” claimed No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and broke records on Spotify as ranked at #1 on Spotify’s “Top Global Album Debuts” list and #5 on the “US Top Album Debuts.” This album also had four songs on Billboard’s Global Top 200 list. Her hit “Tusa” with rapper Nicki Minaj was the first Latin song by a woman to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify; it was also certified 28x Latin platinum by the RIAA, staying on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for 25 weeks.
Ms. Vasquez has performed as Karol G’s lead Guitarist for many distinguished and important events such as Latin Grammys Awards (2020), Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade (2020), Premios Juventud (Youth Awards 2021), YouTube’s Hello 2021, NPR Tiny Desk Concert, ASCAP Awards (2018).
The success she has attained in the performing arts is demonstrated through her extensive work history. She started to immerse herself in the music at an early age, leading her discipline and natural musical talent to stand out as she grew into a great Guitarist. In 2020 Ms. Vasquez performed for the “Despacito” global hit singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi on his United Arab Emirates debut. Luis Fonsi is a Puerto Rican singer that broke countless records with his song "Despacito," an unprecedented global hit that reached #1 in more than 90 countries, spent 16 weeks in a row #1 in Billboard's Hot 100 (another historic record), and also achieved major milestones in the digital domain like becoming the most viewed video in YouTube history.
Ms. Vasquez is a remarkably talented Guitarist with a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievements in the field. Her commercial success has been highlighted by her extraordinary ability to attract an audience through her charismatic personality and performances in addition to her astounding musicianship which captures the interest and admiration of her audience and listeners. Ms. Vasquez is considered an international star in her home country and abroad. She has performed at many different competitions, concerts and festivals due to her extraordinary ability as a Guitarist, including but not limited to: Connecticut Guitar Festival (2020), The Namm Show, Kiesel Guitar Contest and IV International Guitar Festival (2017). These performances have led to grand achievements in her musical career conveyed in numerous performances that have been acclaimed in the exceedingly competitive entertainment industry.
In addition to her work for Luis Fonsi and Karol G, Ms. Vasquez has had the opportunity to work alongside distinguished celebrities such as Anuel, Jacob Collier, Hope Tala, Renforshort, Blu DeTiger and many more extraordinary and talented singers in the industry. In 2019 she went on tour with Latin Trap pioneer Anuel AA (Culpables Tour 2019) and most recently recorded electric guitars for the upcoming album of the 5-time Grammy winner, musical genius and prodigy Jacob Collier.
Her influence and prominence within her industry has led Ms. Vasquez to be featured on important magazines in the guitar industry such as Guitar Girl Magazine, Guitar Interactive Magazine, Top Guitar Magazine, and others. Her acclaim as a Guitarist has also led her to receive endorsements from distinguished brands including Fender Guitars, Fractal Audio, Elixir Strings, Kemper, ADV Sound and many more.
In 2016, Sus participated in the Kiesel Guitar Contest with around 5.000 highly trained guitar players from around the world, where she was ranked among the Top 5 finalists, being the only female and individual from South America.
In 2017 she auditioned and was awarded with a scholarship to study on the recognized music school The Collective School of Musicin NYC.
